    Congratulations on this release.
I’ve just installed it on Fedora. Alas, I had no such luck on x86_64, but the i386 runs just fine.
It’s also worth mentioning, that I had to install some extra dependencies such as gtkmozembed and ruby-gconf2.

Thanks Dan, I’ll get on fixing that.

    Nicely done!
Keep up the good work, and don’t let yourself be bothered by the peeps who just want a windows version. It’s open source!, let them fix it their self :)

I was not going to afflict it.
Ubuntu is installed in the beginning, and Redcar is tried.
    It is happy.
Even I try the porting to Windows.
    Thank you.

    Hi,

I’m using ubuntu 9.04 beta and I installed all dependencies but when I run the instructions return me the errors:

    /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/dbus/bus.rb:581:in `parse_session_string’: private method `split’ called for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError)

@Marc maybe ask in the mailing list.
re: windows — you can try in cygwin…but you may need to install some ‘old’ versions of the dependencies’ source code so that it works with cygwin available packages as much as possible (which packages are at times outdated).

I have the same DBUS problem as Marc has.

There is some kind of issue with ruby-dbus on Jaunty. In the meantime, please start Redcar with the –multiple-instance flag.

Hi Daniel, thanks for your patience!

    But the same error continues.
    Are you any idea?

    Thanks.

Marc, please ask on the mailing list with the exact command you are using to start Redcar and I’ll try and help.

The E TextEditor (www.e-texteditor.com) is now released as open source, perhaps you could find some useful code there…

No more news? No debs? Is the project stalled? Hope not - I am really looking forward to it.

@Alexei I see commits on github almost daily, hardly stalled; just nothing interesting to present.

I failed to compile in Ubuntu - would love if a deb got presented.
